No.3345/1922.
Enclosure No. 3.
Government House,
Hong Kong, 4th May, 1925.
16
My Lord,
In my letter No.4287/1925 of the 29th of April
I had the honour to bring to Your Excellency's notice certain
entirely unfounded imputations made by the Veterinary Direct-
or General of the Canadian Department of Agriculture against
the Veterinary Surgeon of this Colony. I regret that I must
again trouble Your Excellency with a further protest in
regard to the same person.
I enclose a copy of a letter which the Colonial
Secretary has received from the Deputy Minister in the
Department of Agriculture and would invite Your Excellency's
attention to the extract therein quoted from a communication
from the Veterinary Director General. Apart from the fact
that the imputations and insinuations contained in this
extract are entirely devoid of any shadow of foundation or
justification, I am confident that Your Excellency will agree
with me that the language used is grossly improper and offen-
sive. I should therefore be grateful if Your Excellency
would take up the matter with a view to securing an adequate
apology and a complete withdrawal of the unfounded aspersions
which the Veterinary Director General has thought fit to cast
upon this Government and its officers.
I have, &c.,
His Excellency
(Sd.) R. E. Stubbs,
Governor, &c.
General Baron Byng of Vimy, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., N.V.C., Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada,
OTTA W A.
